vs Reigate Town

Away league match

We knew from last season that the Reigate derby would be a tough affair but it didn't turn out that way as we cruised to a comfortable victory. For the first 25 minutes we took complete control against a Reigate Town team who had lost their first 4 games. We were able to rely on our solid defensive organisation and quick passing play to cut open Town and we were rewarded 15 minutes in when Eamonn played a precision through ball which Smithy latched on to for his 10th goal in 4 games. The game then got a bit sloppy with the ball getting stuck down 1 wing and we started spraying wayward passes. Despite that we never looked in danger until Rob Wigley lost the ball but in his usual fashion he won it back with ease and powered his way through the Town midfield before supplying the killer ball to the killer forward Smithy who once again made no mistake. We strolled in at the half time interval with a comfortable 2-0 lead and we never looked like losing from that point. The 2nd half was much more of the same with our best chance coming from Eamonn's 25 yard strike which was just clawed away by the keeper. Town suffered from multiple injuries and ended up on 10 men with about 70 to go. Despite that we couldn't really capitalise and just held on to the ball for the remaining time.

Once again another 3 points and it was business as usual, very solid defensively as shown by only letting in 2 goals in 4 games which is pretty incredible in Sunday league. Midfield did the hard work with Eamonn and Tom controlling the pace of the game and the attacking midfielders and Smithy doing the hard work up and down. We never really had to get up a gear and hopefully we can continue ploughing through opponents. Rob Wigley got MOTM for a sterling performance at CB but I'd also like to give a mention to Rob Smith for what I thought was his best performance in the Red and White.

Merstham up next week at home in the league before we play them once again 2 weeks later in the cup
