Home league match

Oxted were the first visitors of the season to the heath as both teams shared the points with a 2-2 draw. We started well early on with the wingers seeing a lot of action and earned some early corners which played into our hands as the referee was quite strict and Chris Wigley was pushed in the box and a penalty was given. Rob Wigley stepped up and made no mistake burying the ball into the right hand corner with 10 minutes gone. It then became a tough game in the middle of the park with neither team being remotely dangerous. About 25 minutes into the game Oxted finally got a chance and equalised after a short lapse of concentration at the back led to an Oxted player being through one on one and finished well leaving Damo with no chance. Despite that blow shortly before half time some good play saw Gillett played in down the right hand side who unleased a vicious cross which found the lurking Chris Wigley at the back post who diverted the ball into the net.

We were in control going into half time and in good spirits but that was shortlived when Chris went from hero to villain with a reckless tackle in the box giving away a penalty which they put away in good style. The rest of the game was a tough affair played mainly in midfield with us having the best chances when Brockhurst fired into the keepers hands from short range and substitute Alex Smith just sliding one wide when one on one with the keeper. It was unfortunate not to win the game as they offered nothing really in attack but kept our midfield busy and in the grand scheme of things is not a bad point. We're looking good now as a squad despite being let down by a few players on the morning of the game and we hope that doesn't become a regular occurance once again.

Good point today boys 2-2 and for most of the game we were the better side, we only had 12 at the start after being let down on the morning of the game by a few. Took the lead with a Rob penalty and then myself with the 2nd from a great Gillett cross to take a 2-1 lead into half time, they equalised with a controversial penalty but we stayed strong and once again fitness showed but we couldn't find the winner. Jack Carroll ran his legs off in midfield but my man of the match is Rob Smith who was solid at right back and provided the half time oranges!!

Please all try and get to training, battlebridge 7pm on Tuesday.
