Reigate Go Down For The First Time This Season.

Once again we knew we were in for a tough match against a Merstham side who had only dropped 2 points this season. The teams were relatively similar in quality but with the addition of the ref and some negativity on our part we went down 3-0. First half was very tight, they had one breakaway which saw the striker finish 1 on 1 and that was the only real chance of the half for either team.

2nd half was a bit more open and once again they struck early with a similar goal to the 1st half with the addition of the striker knocking the ball down with his hand. We battled hard and had a goal ruled out as Smithy tackled the keeper who didn't have full control and Jack tapped into an empty net only to be ruled out 10 seconds after the ref had said play on and it was fine. He strikes again.... Then Carroll was on the receiving end of a player who had already been booked with an awful tackle but somehow he wasn't sent off. They finished the game with the 3rd before we struck back with a consolation 5 minutes from the end when fil put in a great free kick which Smithy powered in with his head. An unfortunate game to lose but on paper we'd certainly have taken 12 from 15 at this point and we have 2 of the toughest games of the season in Coulsdon and Merstham out of the way. We now have a week off which comes at a handy time to allow us to regroup and the chance for revenge when we play the same team at home in the cup in 2 weeks time.
