Scoreline Doesn't Tell The Full Story As Reigate Crash Out Of The Cup

<p>The Heath lived up to it's reputation as our game was the only game to survive across the Redhill and District league this weekend but it did not go our way. We had drawn with 10 men against Godstone just before christmas and were confident with a strong squad we'd have a good chance of beating them. We started poorly and they were fortunate with their first goal when a cross ended up lobbing Hill and then they followed up by scoring from a rebound. After going 2-0 down we staged a fightback and dominated for the rest of the first half, Frankie came on for Damo and we started to push forward a bit more and had plenty of chances but we just couldn't finish. We got one back when a goalmouth scramble occured and Sammy B was able to get his head up and find Dean running into the area and he was able to finish into the corner. We went into half time confident we were right back in the game especially after Hill's superb penalty save. We came out like a steam train in the 2nd half and must have mustered about 10 chances within the first 15 minutes with the best coming from an acrobatic scissor kick from Mellows which went just over. It was one of those games where if we had found the equaliser we most probably would have gone on to win but their 3rd goal killed us and was swiftly followed by the 4th, 5th and 6th as the Reigate heads dropped and completely lost control. We got a consolation back through Driver slotting home after some great play from Frankie down the right to cut it back but once Godstone had got their 7th and 8th it was well and truly over. It is baffling how the scoreline ended up how it did after our total dominance in the first 15 mins of the 2nd half but it wasn't to be. We now only have 5 games left in the league and we should be focusing on trying to gain a top 3 finish.
