Away league match

After a change in location and issues trying to get a team together we managed to pull together and pick up a good win against Caterham Eagles. Lorenc and Shaban made their reappearances for the first time since pre-season and Joe Wright made his debut for this incarnation of the team after previously playing for Reigate Hill before we took over. It was a tough start as Caterham's quick attack posed problems for a much changed Reigate back 4 but we took the lead on the counter when Alex Smith burst into the box and fired a shot off which was heading wide until it took a deflection and ended up in the far corner. We were unlucky to concede quickly after that after a cross took a deflection and Driver missed a clearance which led to their striker having a free pop at goal. We then struggled against their attack again and their no.11 was able to outdo Rob Wigley and finish comfortably. We managed to nab an equaliser before the break when Rob ran through from the back and played Alex Smith in who once again terrorised the defence before firing into the far bottom corner. Lorenc came on for the injured Driver at half time and settled in at centre mid for the first time since Aperfield in 2015 while Joe went into centre back.

The changes seemed to work as Caterham Eagles imploded and started to turn on each other and the referee. The 3rd goal for us was shrouded in mystery as they claimed to have put the ball out for an injury after the goal was scored as the throw landed at Shaban who played it into Alex Smith who fired in from the edge of the box. Caterham believed they were level but the menace of Driver with the flag caught them out offside and the back line was superb in playing the offside trap relentlessly in the second half. We killed the game off with a 4th goal coming from an Alex Smith cross which found Chris Wigley inside the box for a comfortable tap in. It was a good and deserved victory after an excellent 2nd half performance. Alex Smith got man of the match for an excellent performance.
