Real Rosehill's first game in a month saw a tidy result put them back to the top of the league by a point with a game in hand over second placed Waterside FC Reserves.

Real Rosehill opened the scoring in the first minute with a class team move assisted by Ben Stonham for Mark Newman to score on his first full match debut.

Things got even better in the 3rd minute when James Defreitas playing up front for a change with Ben scored following another team move, once again assisted by Ben.

Real were playing uphill and against the wind so was a very difficult proposition for Real Rosehill.

Waterside pulled a goal back on 15 minutes with another own goal from Ryan Cunnington following a corner.

The game continued to be scrappy and on 44 minutes Waterside levelled with bad defending once again from a corner with the ball going straight in the net.

The second half saw Real Rosehill gain momentum and have a lot more possession although missed a number of chances, going close on a couple of occasions notably a strike from James Sharp hitting the post and coming out.

Substitutions were made, Louis came off for Tom. Mark Newman was replaced by Dan Shrubb and Mark Newman replacing Dolding.

On 75 minutes a shot from outside the box from Sam was incredibly saved one handed by the Waterside Reserves FC keeper for James Defreitas to follow up on the rebound.

With 10 minutes to play the game's main talking point happened.

Waterside had a chance following a defensive error which was handled by Ryan C on the line and then handled again as the ball was hit back in, the ball ending up in the net. The referee blew for what we thought was a goal but he blew for the penalty and rightly sent Ryan off for the deliberate handball.

The Waterside Reserves penalty taker put the ball well wide, a let off for Rosehill.

With 10 men on the field Real continued to defend with James D playing in defence for the last 10 minutes. Ben ended up playing in midfield for the last 10 as well and won a couple of major tackles and running back was class. The game could have been all over had Shrubb finished a chance when he was through.

Dan did win the "Kaka I am worth £107m award with some skilful ball juggling when under pressure in midfield.

All in all a battling performance with the only real classy performance from Whitty, although James D two goals was great. It was a tough game and could have done with not so good opponents as this was only our second game since the start of December.

Lots to learn from the game and need to up it big time for our next game which should be the cup semi final v Knowles next Sunday.
