Away league match

Early start away at Mossbank this morning. A full squad was available so a few selection headaches for once!

First half was a tight affair with no real openings for either side during the first twenty mins. Mossbank then spooned an opportunity when a ball forward was played to the striker (who looked offside) and his shot hit the post was half cleared by Josh but fell to another Mossbank player who hit the bar from less than six yards and was eventually cleared. Unfortunately we did not heed this warning as the home team took the lead soon after when we failed to press the ball sufficiently in the Mossbank half of the pitch and two passes later the ball was in the net. The remainder of the half saw us have our fair percentage of the ball but fail to threaten the Mossbank goal.

Half time came and some honest talking was said between us all as there was too little communication between the players and what there was didn't have any positive effect.Changes were made with James coming on a left bank with Josh moving to centre back and Ethan in turn moving to midfield. Joe was also brought on up front to add a bit of pace and directness. Second half was much better and we got an early equaliser with Owen turning and shooting from distance into the top right hand corner. With 20 mins left Harvey was pushed into midfield and more changes were made with Reece coming on at right back and Aaron back up fron. The changes had the desired effect as we scored a second with Aaron finding space to finish and then Harry scoring soon afterwards to make the game safe. Charlie came on for a tiring Harry and we managed to score another couple through Joe and Harvey as the oppositions heads dropped.

The scoreline probably flatters us a little but once we took the lead there was only going to be one winner. That being said consistency is an issue as is general communication between the players. The ability is there as has been shown many times but to earn a win takes a bit of desire and passion also.
