Curzon Ashton Whites 1-3 PFC U16 SUN

A good run out for the lads today against opponents that will be competing in the same division this season. After a wobbly first 10 minutes in which we weren’t sharp enough and, tried our best to give aware possession, we settled down and started to play with more confidence. We worked the ball into some good areas and, with the use of our wingbacks pushed a really high line and we looked really dangerous. It didn’t take long for us open the scoring, on 16 mins good work on the right in building the play, Easa broke the Curzon back line, the keeper could only parry his shot and Luca slotted home from close range 0-1. The lads continued to squeeze Curzon in possession, it was good to watch our front 3 of Salvador, Easa and Kyron put the pressure on their back line and Dayne, Luca and later in the half Raph in midfield lay in wait to win possessions from the forced mistakes. To Curzons credit they looked to counter our high line and got in a couple of but Harrison??pulled a couple of great saves. To add our back line of Harrison B Leon (CHs) and Max (RB)/Dan B (LB) controlled really well. On 26 minutes from a Curzon corner we won back possession and the break was clinical. 3 passes out from the back and a great through ball split their defence to set Easa off, his finish pin point 0-2. That’s the way it stayed to end the half.

We spoke at the break about retaining our possession and improving our movement off the ball.

In H2 there were really encouraging signs that the lads can play the new system with calmness and composure. Our third goal summed that up, we worked the ball forward from rhe right wing back position, a series of linked passes and a beautifully weighted ball was squared to Raph who struck the ball sweetly into the bottom right corner 0-3. Further chances followed and with a little more composure we could have extended our lead further. Curzon grabbed a consolation goal but never offered anything to trouble us. Final score 1-3, MOTM - Easa, his hold play today was superb, a constant threat in front of goal ????????Well done lads ????

Credit to the lads that played out of their natural positions today too, they did a great job ????????

??Luca

??Easa
