Well this is it, the last match report of the season that is of course
unless anyone fancies writing a report on the end of season do on
Saturday??!!

Plumtree's final game was against the Division 3 champions Inn at the
Bank, who we lost 3-1 to a couple of weeks ago. Only 11 mighty
Gladbacher's were assembled for the final game, but confidence seemed
high and everyone seemed at ease looking forward to a summer break.
Apart from a certain Roscoe Easom who looked more nervous than ever
before. With Troy and Sam in another cup final on Tuesday, Sam wanted
to rest so opted to play in goal which meant Roscoe was upfront with
Omar?! Tired of selection headaches, Godfrey and Court embraced the
situation and the game began.

Plumtree quickly got into their stride, passing and moving the ball as
good if not better than in any other match this season, dominating the
midfield and as always looking solid at the back. The first clear
chance came when a neat one two between Matt and Dunc put Matt through
in to the box only for him to put the ball over the bar. Plumtree
continued to pressure and Roscoe was more than doing his fair share.
Winning headers (ish), hassling the defence, bringing other people into
the game as well as linking up with Jonny Rowe on the right very well.
Unfortunately, Plumtree's pressure was undone when Inn at the Bank went
1-0 up. Pete went in for a challenge on the left, won the ball only to
perform 3 pirouettes, looking for the ball, the IATB right back picked
the ball up and smacked it from 25 yards, leaving Sam helpless. Heads
did not drop and once again Plumtree finished the half the better team.

The second half started with Plumtree maintaining control in midfield
and starting to carve out a number of opportunities. Sam had swapped
with the deadly Easom and a sense of normality had returned. In fact it
was a Buckle corner that brought about the equaliser as captain
fantastic CK eluded his marker and powered in a header. It wasn't that
long before IATB were ahead again, when their striker showed good
control and strength on the edge of the box and half volleyed the ball
into the corner of the net. It took Plumtree only a couple of minutes
to equalise when a long kick from Roscoe was controlled neatly (appeared
to be with his arm!) by Omar, and he outmuscled two of the defenders to
bury his 29th of the season in the bottom corner. This seemed to spur
Plumtree on to their deserved win and when Sam sent a beautiful cross
over to the incoming Jonny, the win was sealed.

Honestly one of my most enjoyable games of the season, perhaps because
the pressure was off, or perhaps because we played some pretty decent
football. Or perhaps because I stopped being the holding man and made a
number of 40 yard mazy runs!!! A great way to end a fantastic season,
looking forward to the end of season do, looking forward to a break (but
not for too long) and looking forward to seeing Dunc back again next
year even though he says he isn't!!

End of season do: Saturday 15th May, Hooters, Table for 12 booked at
2:30pm, so meet there anytime between 2:00 and 2:30pm
