Pen mill panthers suffered a opening day defeat against a strong Ash side.
Almost a full strength side was on show to the loyal panthers crowd with just Rhys Walters absence due to illness.
Good to see Harry Purchase return to match day action following his recent hand injury.
Pen mill started well and took the game to ash suffocating their play and forcing mistakes with captain Patrick Healey leading the line upfront.
The players hard work continued throughout the quarter much to the delight of panthers coaching staff O’Brien and Lewis.
Oscar Chislet showcasing tough tackling and great distribution of the ball.
The deadlock was finally broken towards the end of the first quarter.
Midfield maestro Owen Healey picked up the ball on half way line and knocked a perfectly weighted ball over the top of the Ash defence where Archie Lewis capitalised and lobbed the oncoming keeper with a neat finish.
Great defensive display from Noah O’Brien and Dexter Collins ensured the panthers ended first quarter 1-0 with Cameron street pulling off some fantastic saves.
From the second quarter until the final whistle the panthers hard work didn’t stop, with a great example of this showcased by the midfield engine of Ben King.
Unfortunately their hard work wasn’t rewarded with Ash taking their chances to end the game 6-1 to ash with a score line that flatters the panthers opposition.
Man of the match was Loui Trenar with a well disciplined display at the back.
