The scoreline suggests maybe a more comfortable win than it actually was. PB faced a side that didn't actually have anyone over the age of 30, so a lot of the the game was played in the PB half during the early spells chasing the young whipper snappers about.
Despite this possession it was PB who created all the chances and managed to make two of these count in the first half, with a long range curling effort from Sault nestling in the top corner and a neat finish from Birch made the score 2-0 at the break.
The second half hinged on a moment of madness from the Spartans centre mid who didn't take kindly to a late challenge from Dan S and decided the best course of action was swift head butt to his nose. This resulted in Dan S landing several blows to the midfielders face and 2 straight red cards followed!
With the drama over, the opposition seemed to lose their way and PB dominated the game. With more space all over the park (literally the park) which PB exploited. A goal from Birch and one for the marauding Kev Sparrow killed the game. Several changes were made but the domination continued and Steve on debut bagged a fifth with a soft finish that my nan probably would have saved.
2 consolation goals for the home side meant the game ended 5-2.
Good start to the season for PB Vets and excellent to see good numbers showing up. Well played boys
