<p>Trip down memory lane today, playing at Fortress Mayhill ;-). Pitch<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />was soggy and we knew that there were going to be some heavy boots and<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />legs... Message before KO was to play at a high tempo and get the ball<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />out of the boggy middle into the wide areas..<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />Keepers today were RD first half and JR second...<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />This was a very decent performance today as we tried to play in<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />difficult conditions. First 15 minutes were very good with the ball<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />moving quickly, with use of switch passing and setting back. We then<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />went through a period where passes were too long and straight. There<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />were tired players on both sides by half time. Second half started<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />with good intent but passes were not finding their player as players<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />were unable to change direction quickly. The last 10 minutes was<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />probably the best period with a lot of short wall passes to get past<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />players and setup some good goal scoring chances..<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />Attitude was good from the boys yesterday. Whether playing u10, u11 or<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />u12 they seem to be addressing it the same way. No hogging the ball or<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />expecting it to be easy...battling and being physical within rules of<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />the game...<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />Defensive pairing of JR and OK did well providing cover for each<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />other, helped by the communication from the prowling keeper RD<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />behind them. JR also made some great surging runs and reassuring in<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />goal. Midfield EH and TH both worked to regain possession,<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />reading the intercept and then trying to play it simple. GW and<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />JC were both dynamic, putting pace into the play and hassling<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />opposition to break up or slow down their play...<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /> EHE had the pace on their last defender so creating opportunities<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />and goals for him. However we worked on him being aware of the last<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />defender to avoid turning straight into the defender.<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />Hook u10s 1st team had given us a couple of good games previously and<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />are a strong and well trained team.. However for this game I could see<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />the benefits of our 9aside experience in Div 1 as we looked very<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />comfortable in possession and better organised defensively than last<br style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" />time.
