A fairly lacklustre MEFF ended with a sound drubbing for Griffin’s a Master Tactician FC (who probably lost because they had no team identity to bond them, hence this made-up name!) A noticeable difference in pace proved the real difference as one team counter-attacked at will, while the other was reluctant to commit men forward.

As it produced results the week before, winning Captain Pete’s masterful tactic of letting everyone else in No Likey, No Lighty defend and counter-attack while he goal-hung worked beautifully as he was involved in all 7 of his team’s goals, helped by some sloppy defending in the first half, while Steels made some great saves to further exasperate the toiling opposition, who also watched debutant Ash hit the post from a penalty which could’ve made a big difference at 2-0.

1-0: Pete(Kieran intercepted a misjudged pass from Patto, and rolled the ball to Pete in space, who made no mistake from close range)

2-0: Fletch(another pass was blocked, allowing Pete to square the ball for a simple finish)

3-0:Pete (shrugged off the challenges to finish under Rowan)

4-0:Daz (Pete was released down the right wing, and he squared the ball to Daz who finished from a tight angle with a far post flick)

Half Time

4-1:Patto (took down Griffin’s raking clearance and smashed the ball low into the bottom right corner)

5-1:Pete (great work from Fletch in the area finally allowed Pete to shoot through a crowded box into the net – HAT TRICK)

6-1:Crozier (persistent play from Pete presented Crozier with a shooting chance which deflected in off Spence’s back)

7-1:Pete (intercepted a misjudged back-pass from Ash and curled in from close range with the last kick of the game)

Pete was the obvious choice for MOM on the winning team, and grabs his second 10/10 performance in consecutive weeks as he “completely dominated the game”.

Griffin gets the bonus MOM point for the losing team “for his pass to Patto for the goal. It was nice.” Apparently it hurt Pete to admit that.
