Home league match

Old Hastonians 3-1 JC Tackleway

The day finally arrived, the stones returned to league action after a 2 year hiatus. The way they started it looked as if those 2 years had taken its toll with poor passing and indecision throughout the team led to a well finished Tackleway goal on the 20 minute mark. An injury to Fitz-Hugh in the build up to the goal led to a reshuffle with Louis Bradbury coming on in midfield and Player/Manager Cusden reverting back to centre back. 30 mins in and the Stones finally got a foothold in the game with the Hand, Bourne and Davies all going close. Half time came with the stones on top but still trailing. The 2nd half saw the momentum with the stones with Bourne and Bradbury influential in midfield and Pugh looking threatening in the final 3rd. Eventually pressure told and some good work on the wing from Davies led to substitute Burton finishing well from close range for the equaliser. Game on. The stones pressed for the winner and were eventually rewarded when some quick thinking from a Bourne free kick saw Pugh in the box with the ball at his feet. A sight that has made local defenders panic for the last decade or so. Some neat footwork from Pugh teed up the on rushing Hand who sent a rocket into the top corner to give the stones the lead. With Cusden and Irving marshalling the back 4 well, more stones pressure in the final 3rd told when Davies finished from close range to put the gloss on the victory after good work from Irving and Burton. 3-1 and 3pts in the bag.

A lot of hard work behind the scenes for the last 6 months getting the club back into the league paid off with 3 hard fought points.

Today's MoM sponsored by EyeDream is Louis Bradbury.

Next up is Rye Town (a) on the 14/09.
