Stones 2-5 Peche Hill
An injury hit stones side faced Peche Hill in treacherous conditions this afternoon. With a bare 11 including 3 carrying knocks it was always going to be a tough game but the stones started the brighter and should be gone ahead when Hand was put clean through but the Peche keeper saved well.
Midway through the first half the stones took a deserved lead from a Davies corner, Pughs shot looked to have crossed the line and Kane followed up to tap home for his first goal for the club.
Peche got themselves back into it from a set piece that the stones didnt deal with and an unmarked player nodded home.
The stones looked lively towards the end of the first half and retook the lead when Bradbury found Davies who beat the defender and finished well with his left foot. HT 2-1.
The 2nd half couldn't have started any worse when firstly Bradbury playing his first game for 6 weeks pulled up injured and then Parry was caught napping by a Peche forward and pulled his man to the ground. Penalty given. Saunders who is enjoying an excellent season saved the pen but luck was not on his side as the rebound was tucked home.
Not long after it was 3 and Peche were well on top with the long injury list and poor conditions finally catching up with the stones. 3 became 4 when the stones didnt deal with a long ball down the field and Peche added a fifth late on from a corner.
Injuries and unavailability caught up with the stones today. Hopefully we can patch a few players up ready for next week.
Special mention to Luke Davies who was Man of the match today, scored an excellent goal and was a constant threat on the stones wing. All after celebrating the birth of his daughter just 2 days ago.
