Home league match
Saturday seen a quick re-match as Ormiston travelled to East Shores looking to revenge the loss from a fortnight ago while the Burgh looked to get back to winning ways after last week’s cup defeat.
There was not much to write home about in a drab first half where neither team really threatened and both GKs did not need to get their strip washed. Burgh rang the changes at half time with the introduction of Ryan, Kieran, and Owen McNally as the management team looked to kick start the team.
Ryan immediately made an impact with his direct runs down the left and it was his floated long diagonal cross towards Andy that caused panic in the Ormiston defence with the defender nodding the ball back over the onrushing GKs head to give the Burgh the lead. Like busses a second OG soon followed, again it was Ryan surging run down the wing and great cross that caused the Ormiston defender trouble as he stretched to stop Andy tapping in only to see his interception fly past the GK.
Ormiston weren’t done though and a smart pass inside the Ronnie saw their winger run on and smash a shot against the underside of the bar which dropped to an Ormiston player to knock home.
It was Burgh that got the decisive third when a free kick from Ronnie was met by Cammy Taylor at the back post to head back across the GK to settle the nerves.
Andy then put the icing on the cake with a fourth in the 86th minutes. A great tackle by Newsy allowed Calum Black and Kieran to play the ball forward to Andy who took a touch to settle before firing a shot into the corner of the goal.
A far better second half seen the boys grab the three points and move them up to third in a very tight league.
