vs Ormiston Primrose
Away league match
The Burgh made their second trip to Ormiston this season hoping to repeat our earlier cup success.
The management team rung the changes to the starting eleven. With top scorer Andy McCallion sunning himself in warmer climes, Kieran Twaddell came in to lead the attack. Sean Martin was between the sticks and Calum Black took up position in central midfield. With Callum Roughead & Nichita Cotorobai taking their place on the bench after extended time away for both.
Storm Amy was as still blowing hard as the game kicked off with the wind at the boys back.
Burgh settled well and were soon controlling possession without seriously threatening the Ormiston GK however that changed in the 14th min when Ryan Daly broke down the left and rolled the ball in behind the defence for Kieran to run on and fire a great shot across the keeper to put us one up.
The rest of the half followed a similar pattern with Burgh dominating possession but unable to find an elusive second.
The second half seen the boys face into the wind, and an Ormiston team fired up at half time. It took the 15 mins to settle as Ormiston had their best period of the game without really threatening Sean in goals.
Having got to grips with playing into the wind Burgh settled again and were rewarded in the 70th minute when Mack’s shot was blocked but the ball fell to Kieran who swept home for his second of the game. Mack was not to be denied and four minutes later great play by Nichitia down the wing seen him pick out Mack who swept home for the third.
This ended the scoring as Sean and the defence shut up shop to take a well-earned the three points back up the road.
