Newburgh travelled to Edunburgh South looking to keep their run of positive results going.
On a dry and bumpy pitch both teams struggled to create many clear cut chances.
Newburgh’s best chance came on 12 minutes when a long kick by Mark Robertson carried over the defence, Kellar Harris beat the keeper to ball but at close range couldn't direct it past the keeper, who saved. Unfortunately for Burgh, Harris injured himself in the clash and had to go off shortly afterwards.
Edinburgh South's best chance came at the end of the half as a cut back was met by the striker but Robertson saved well with his feet.
The second half continued to be a battle and Burgh were awarded a penalty on 61 minutes as a shot struck the hand of a South defender. Michael Perrie stepped up and smashed home for 1-0.
Ten minutes later South were awarded a penalty of their own when substitute Lewis Stevenson brought down the striker on the edge of the box and received his marching orders with his second booking of the game.
The penalty was scored although Robertson was unlucky as he got a hand to the shot.
Down to 10 men with 20 minutes remaining Burgh saw the game out and in the last minutes South were then also numerically reduced to 10 men as an altercation in the centre circle saw the South captain receive his second yellow.
A good performance on a tricky pitch and another good away point.
