With at least 10 potential players missing from the starting line-up, for a variety of reasons, some known and others not, the makeshift team which took the field today did enough to collect all three points but missed chances and poor decision making - and a missed penalty- allowed Kingsway to snatch an equaliser late on.
After Paul Sweeney had hit the bar with his penalty effort, Abdul Alsahar’s excellent long range free kick from the halfway line was brilliantly headed home by striker JEBRIL ABDULRAHMAN, diving in at the back post.
Though dominating possession from then on several one-on-ones, half chances and goalmouth scrambles failed to add to Rovers’ total and, with increasing pressure from Kingsway, a decent side, they forced the ball over the line with only a few minutes remaining to grab a point.
Eliasz Zalewski was always in control at the back along with the defensive trio of Alsahar, Bamba and Al Humaidi; but the only noteworthy performances other than that came from Abdulrahman up front, who worked hard, looked sharp and quick and took his goal chance well, Andrea Ekuase at times, and Harald Martins on the wide left.
