Another punchless first half display with virtually no goal threat and little creative contribution from a disjointed midfield or in wide areas, with only a defensive mix-up and persistence from JEBRIL ABDULRAHMAN leading eventually to a 1-0 half time lead.
In a livelier performance in the second period, a succession of excellent Paul Sweeney corners lead to goals from HARALD MARTINS and JOHNNY GREENWOOD then ANDREA EKUASE added another before latching onto Eliasz Zalewski’s long kick to add his second with a clinical finish. Just before the end, JEBRIL ABDULRAHMAN netted his third goal in two games to take the total to six.
The goalkeeper and Back 3 were largely in control throughout- though after coming on, Robbie Greenshields was called on to make two excellent stops as Burnhill looked to get a consolation goal. The introduction of Harald Martins, Joe Martin and, in particular, Mohammed Alkhabeer gave the team a lift in what turned out in the end to be a straightforward victory, though the highlight after the final whistle was Abdul Alsahar’s thrilling climb to retrieve the matchball which had been kicked high up into a tree behind the goal!
Paul Sweeney was red carded late on.
“Well done again for today. Some fabulous players really putting on a show. I tipped you guys to win the league after we drew with you earlier in the season and stand by it. Best we've played by some distance.”
From the Burnhill manager.
