First Game Back!!!!

Very good result and performance in our first pre season friendly this morning. With a lot of lads unavailable we had to bring in replacements in the shape of Tom + Sean Williams and ex player Tom McGarry and all three of them brought a lot to the team. Sean Willow was the first to impress when his great run and cross down the right was met by Smigger and that was 1-0. Fifteen minutes later it was Tom Williow's turn as he burst down the left flank and his cross was met by Sean Boyle to poke in number two.

The first half performance was very good not least with a make-shift team, playing on 4G for the first time and against opposition from the division above. Nine minutes after the break Tom Willow broke clear, raced past the defence and finished in off the far post.

As the game wore on the match lost its competitive edge, not least when Joel hobbled off to be replaced by Joe Boyle, one of the Huyton players joked 'I didn't know it was bring your grandad to footy day'! but the smile was soon rubbed off his face when Joe nut-megged him whilst on his mobile !!

Hutyon scored a consolation goal after 83 minutes after the referee played on when Smigger was clearly fouled.

Everyone played well today until rustiness and fatigue took over, the three new lads all looked good, but the man of the match award jointly goes to the two centre backs Griff + Toddy. Griff winning every header and tackle and Toddy who although playing out of position made some vital interceptions and always looked in control.
