vs Caragh B

Home league match

Caragh Celtic 1 Naas AFC 3.

Another win for Naas on their quest for the league title. Caragh Celtic have been only team to beat Naas in the league this year, so Naas were out for revenge on this sunny Sunday morning. Naas were quick of the blocks playing free flowing intelligent football from the start. Ali Sheridan and Man of the match Kevin Kelly dictated play, and with 23 minutes gone Naas took a deserved lead with captain for the day Paul Walsh scoring a thunderous head after good build up play from Matty Drewitt and a wonderful cross by Aidan Comerford.

Naas scored again after 31 minutes with Conor McPhilips scoring with a well uted header after a sumptuous cross by Ali Sheridan. Naas could have scored again after long range efforts by Charlie Steele and Aero Moriarty went close, with Moriarty's effort cannoning back off the bar.

Naas were forced to make a change just before half time with Moriarty making way with an injury, he was replaced by Alex Maher who was unlucky not to start.

The first half ended two nil to Naas with no changes being made at half time.

The second half started with Caragh doing all the pressing and Naas finding it difficult to get back into any rhythm. Naas made two changes early in the second half. Jamie D'Arcy coming in for Conor McPhilips and Neil Grehan coming on for Niall Kelly. These changes paid dividends when Hugh O'Sullivan putting a great low cross in for Neil Grehan to sweep it home to make it 3 nil to Naas.

Caragh then managed to get on the scoresheet after a great save by Greg McDonald which bounced around the box and Caragh managed to sneak a low shot into the corner of the net with 15 to go. Naas then made two more changes with Rob Hughes and Cian Mullaly replacing the excellent Charlie Steele and man of the match Kevin Kelly.

With just a few minutes remaining a scuffle broke out with the scorer of Naas's 3rd goal shown a straight red and a Caragh player show a yellow.

Another super win for Naas with only 5 games left to play. Super performances from everybody in a Naas Jersey, with Kevin Kelly, Ali Sheridan and Charlie Steele the pick of a very good bunch. Next up for Naas are Kildare town on Thursday night at 7:15.
