Home league match

Conditions where great today for an game of grass roots football and with a few key players out this week the team knew a strong display was required. The team didn't disappoint as they played competitively and looked to control all areas of the pitch. After a scrappy first 5 to 10 mins we took control of the game and never really gave it back. On 25 mins the pace of oliver was causing their defence nightmares and the keeper brought oliver down in the box and gave us a penalty. Captain Aiden stepped up but put the ball just over the bar which left the score at 0-0.

This didn't put us off and we continued in the same way progressing past their back line and making chances but the Romario keeper had an answer for everything. Halftime came and the game was still 0-0

Second half started with us in control again and pushing on for the goal, George took a quick throw which ran through and Oliver passed it past the keeper into the new, however the ref blew up for a foul throw and the goal was chalked off. Then George got down the left side and played the ball across the box into Olivers path who tapped into the goal from 3 yards out but the ref again denied the goal saying he was offside despite being behind the ball when it was played. Minuted later from a corner the ball was bouncing around the box and Oscar managed to squeeze a left footed shot off at goal and looked to get the goal but it was cleared off the line. It seemed like we would not be able to find the opener.

Then with minutes left on the clock Romario landed a snatch and grab when a quick counter attack down the right led to a well delved ball to the back post and a volley into the open goal. This left us all devastated as the game should have been won a long time ago, we pushed on to try and get the equaliser but with no luck and our unbeaten run came to an end 0-1.

Every player from our team had been outstanding but this only made the mood after the game worse among the players as they knew they deserved more.

POTM went the archie who alongside Aiden made it almost impossible for the opposition to get forward.

We must start taking our chances is the simple final view of the game.
