Match Report - THE OAKS - 11 Dec 2016

Another tough fixture against The Oaks. Having drawn in the league and getting knocked out the cup by them the men where up for this one. We started well with a quick pace knocking the ball around well and maintaining possession. Micky Lanchester came close and Micky Barrow hit the post from 5 yards in the first 10 minutes. We continued to pepper the goal for the whole of the half but found The Oaks defence and keeper on fine form. Despite having all the game and most of the possession it was The Oaks who scored first hitting us with the long ball over the top. The second half started as we left of. The better team and most of the possession. Despite having shot after shot we just could not score. I dropped Micky Lanchester into the number 10 role with the desired effect of getting the flick on's against a tall defence and it worked. Withing 5 minutes he'd flicked it on for Micky Barrow to race on and equalise. Micky Lanchester then made it 2-1 with a header from a corner and Chris made it 3-1 after another flick on by the big man. Onto the next round in the cup and a solid performance. Its all about the tactics.
