Our first real test against a physical Thetford Bulldogs team, complete with a ref well known for not being the finest!
As per most of our games so far we started very strongly out the blocks. Pressing Thetford and giving them no time on the ball. Being 2-0 up inside 3 mins is a bonus I did not see coming, but one I very much cherished. The boys were ruthless.
Before the game I asked them to be physical, to stick together and no matter what went against us to smile and set a good example. I also asked us to NOT switch off mentally. Conceding a goal against Clare was good for us, because the boys realised that if you switch off against any team you get punished. Thetford Bulldogs score for fun and it’s VERY rare they ever draw a blank.
I’m very very proud of the boys. Against a good team on an awful pitch they gave us everything. Second half the football was better and again they listened to all we asked.
A hatrick from GG, a 10/10 performance from Finbo and Tay AND a clean sheet makes me a very proud manager.
Still lots to work on, and we are committed to improving each kid technically and mentally.
Are we any good… yes! And tonight we proved it.
