The second pre-season match and our first game at home. Shout out to Arnie for helping us get the pitch ready.
It’s not every day that you play a game against an opposition and do not concede a single shot on or off target. Today was total domination from the very kick off and whilst we would prefer game slightly more challenging, I’m sure they will come when we start the league in two weeks time.
I asked the boys to press high and to keep our very wide shape and we did it the whole game. I asked the defenders to follow their passes and get involved in our attacks, which they did. Oliver, Fenton and Heston all got assists from their defensive positions which pleased me most. I still believe we can do more from the back and will be asking more from them in the next game.
The finishing was more clinical with 24 shots and 11 goals. It must be added that one of these shots was from our keeper Zach who’s distribution and calmness on the ball was everything I’m looking for.
A huge RAIDERS welcome to Finn who starts his campaign with 2 goals and one assist.
I’m very proud of the boys, but fully realise the real challenge comes on 11th September.
