County Cup First Round

The first round of the county cup was played on a wet and zippy pitch against a team high on confidence. Elmswell, although a division below us, have been flying high and were full of confidence.

Looking back on the game we should have won by a lot more, but it shows how far we have come to win 5-0 and for me to feel a little deflated afterwards.

The Raiders scored after just 4 mins. A wonder strike from outside the box by Parker crashed against the bar and rebounded to Hibbard on the right wing. Hibbard managed to keep the ball in play and give it back to Parker, who thundered a right foot shot low and hard in off the near post.

The second came shortly after. Everard fed Parker on the right who fizzed a hard low cross back across goal which Everard (who was sporting a new Grealish style hair cut and head band) turned in.

Everard scored his second of the game on the 19th min with a low hard strike from outside the box, and Finlay Deeks added to their woes with a 4th just before half time. The game was over and we still had 30 mins to play.

Whilst we worked hard in the second half, and our passages of play were actually much better, the goals just didn’t come. For all our possession and endless attempts on goal we only added one more goal right on the final whistle. A corner from Parker was volleyed home from Barrett to score in back to back games for the first time for the Raiders.
