Away league match

The conditions for todays match were perfect. The sun shining, a LOVELY big flat pitch, a bunch of lads high on confidence and a double espresso from Neros.

We started the warm up with a chat about last week and how it would count for nothing if we didn’t deliver back to back wins in the league. Our mantra once again for this game was:

“HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT DOESNT WORK HARD” and I made the lads repeat to me in full voice. In this league any game when we don’t give 100% will be punished.

Whilst we didn’t start with the normal quality on the ball, the work rate out of possession with superb with Oscar Barrett once again setting the tone. Todays captain Fenton Arnold was a rock of stability at the back and once he Heston & Ozzie started to play to ball short to feet we never looked back.

Goals from Taylor and Oscar came from outside the box, and George Gooderham volleyed in a third with a deep cross from Hugo Andrews. GGs and Oscars first goals in the league with MANY more to come.

3-0 up at half time was not a flattering scoreline and if it wasn’t for Zach in goal for Bury, we would have headed into half time with double that lead.

The game was over 10 mins after half time when a burst through the middle from the energetic Kingsley Cook saw him wiped out from behind leading to a direct freekick 20 yards out. Taylor Parker stepped up and smashed the ball into the goal hitting the bar and keeper in the process. The icing on the cake (from our MOTM) was his hatrick and 4th goal in 3 league games to seal a 1-5 win for the RAIDERS 6 mins from time.

The Raiders remain unbeaten with Clare up next. There will be goals I promise!
