The Royals Defeat Away At Highgrove 8/2/20

With Morecambe royals very own winter break looming it was time to play the run away leader's away from home

Hoping to have full strength team and fresh faces we turned up to the Royal Albert with 11 fit players in the dreaded burgundy kit, no food after the game and the thought of the pending storm ciara going to batter us all afternoon.

After a half decent half hour warm up where people we unsure how we would fair the game started.

The royals to there credit started well with a few early opportunities Gareth holmes being put through one on one only to fluff his lines thinking he was offside.

The first goal came around 25 mins in when the best player buller controlled to ball shifted it to his right foot and from 20 curled it around cross as it hit the post and in 1 nil highgrove the royals played well and with the new cb line up of Smith, Penrice and armistead thwarted all chances of a second untill around 40 mins there right winger Martin beat Rawlings and crossed the ball with cross flapping to carmtch the ball there attacker came in and nodded the ball in from 1 yard 2 nill highgrove.

Half time came and although 2 nil Down against the wind and limited to changes we were reletivly happy and if the wind did turn up we could get back in the game.

Second half started and were under the cosh for most of it buller again hitting the bar from 25 yards and host of other chances. The royals did manage a few chances towards the end olde putting huntington through hitting over the bar

Eventually tired legs told and we went three down there winger Martin somehow got through Rawlings and Kitchen the final man armistead fresh of working nights tried to get there but was late and took Martin down and a penalty was awarded ogley stepped up and stroked it past cross 3 nil highgrove and how the game ended.

Fair play to the royals who turned up with a decent starting 11 and no subs battled and frustrated highgrove. But fitness told and highgrove making 5 changes in the last twenty minutes it told and royals had no answer.

Next up from the royals is Carnforth rangers in 2 weeks away who are also having a few form problems and after stealing two of the royals better players mardell and Wilson this season we ow them one... UTR????
