Home league match
Tough opening fixture against a very capable Heyside outfit, the match started as pre season finished with the home team under the cosh for the opening few minutes but quickly settled and started matching the opposition as both teams tried to figure each other out, the visitors went close to opening the scoring about 10 minutes in only for stand in keeper Liam to race off his line and block what looked a certain goal, moorside then broke away with Reece Dalton racing down the right flank and squared a perfect ball for Brandon to poke home from close range 1-0.
Heyside were soon on terms though as a gifted corner then a bit of a mix up allowed them the easiest of near post headers 1-1. Midway through the 1st half Todd played Woody in for a 1 on 1 situation with Woody calmy knocking it past the on rushing keeper to make it 2-1.
Half time Curt on for Watto.
2nd half was pretty much end to end stuff but it was Heyside that looked the more likely to score the next goal but resolute defending kept them at bay, they did let moorside off a bit tho as they hit the post when it looked easier to score, more changes as Harry Collins and jack came on for Reece and alan and a slight formation change, Heyside kept pressing as the half wore on and moorside were getting deeper and deeper but still doing enough to keep the winning scoreline, Paul who'd been a constant menace came off with Reece replacing him to see the game out, things then got a bit nasty as Heysides winger tried to stick the nut on brandon and should have been sent off, the visitors were trying everything they could to unsettle the game with the ref eventually sending the other winger for an early bath for dissent. Moorside saw the game out and fully deserved the win as there wasn't a bad performance from anyone
The lads put a poor pre season behind them and were rewarded with the 3 points after everyone put a good shift in, we have definitely moved up a level as I can't see many teams beating this Heyside team on this performance
