<p>After the up and down pre season we had we went in to the first game of the season with a team who had probably played together maybe twice all pre season.
<p>we went in to the game a bit nervy not knowing what to expect, we started slow and was 1 nil down with in 10 mins of playing. we soon settled in to the game and the quality of the young lads cmae to much the upton aa to handle and we took the game to the opposistion and was 3-1 up at half time thanks to goals from Liam Davies, Chocolate cake and Carl Murphy.
<p>we went out in to the second half and continued to play some unbelivable football but missed chance after chance, the game should have been 6 or 7 mid way through the second half. This was not the case on the 65th minute mark the ball was given away by a sloppy peice of play witch resulted in upton scoring to make it 4-2 this made them believe they could get something out of the game. Players fitness levers started to show so Steve Evans (winnie) made a 2 substitutions and changed the formation to try and shut up shop but this wasnt the case. with 10 mins left on the clock upton aa scored another to make it 4-3 after a oposision player picked up the ball and eased past 2 royal players to put it in the net. The final result saw mersey royal gain all 3 points that they deserved
