Cliffe Woods 0 v MTFC 6
What a way to start the season with a cracking win against the only team to beat us in a busy preseason. We really did avenge the 4-2 loss and turned it around with a 6-0 win that could have easily been more.
We asked the boys for a response to that defeat and asked a lot of questions of them all to which they answered with a fantastic display from the first whistle to the last.
We dominated from minute one and really knocked the stuffing out of Cliffe in a first half display that was really impressive. The only worry was we wouldn’t convert the chances to get the lead we deserved. However this was not the case and we were 4-0 up at the break.
We kept rotating it around as a few of the boys were off colour and exhausted from the heat and workrate they were applying. But we finished the game really strong in the second half, limited Cliffe to very little and ran out a fully deserved 6-0 winners.
Goals today were from Ben ????, DJ ??, Ollie ??, Harry ?? and Theo ??.
Genuinely tough to pick a trophy winner today, so glad I ducked that one. I felt everyone of the boys done themselves and us proud today and most impressive for me was how they followed our instructions to the letter.
However, Taking home the new Trophies today were:
Parents Player - Ben ?? In some rare form at the minute, this lad was fantastic today in the middle of the Park. Dominated, was strong, worked hard and showed great quality. Scored a couple of nice goals and done a great job for the team.
Managers/Coaches players - Theo ?? Fully deserved this trophy today, I know he was disappointed not to start but showed like all the boys a brilliant attitude all game, played in three different positions and done a great job in all, his goal summed up his performance as he never gave it up.
Well done to all the boys, a great start which we must continue to build on ????????
