Mateco FA travelled to St. Mathias Academy, Akure, on 18 October 2025 for their league clash against Healthy Starlight Fc U15, kicking off at 4:00pm. The visitors produced a commanding performance to secure a 5-1 victory in this 90-minute encounter.

Deploying a 4-1-2-3 formation, Mateco FA set up with Momoh Abass in goal, protected by a back four comprising Onibudo Babatunde at right back, Agbaje Olamide and Mubarak Muhammed as central defenders, and Ofeh Joshua on the left flank. Joseph Daniel operated as the lone defensive midfielder, shielding the defence and distributing from deep. Ahead of him, A. Samuel took up the right attacking midfield role while Ali Abdulrouf occupied the left attacking midfield position. The front three featured A Olumide on the right wing, Mohammed Ayuba leading the line as striker, and Akanni Tobi on the left wing. No substitutes were named for this fixture.

From the outset, Mateco FA looked to impose their attacking style, and it paid dividends early on. In the 8th minute, a slick move down the left saw Akanni Tobi provide a precise assist for Mohammed Ayuba, who finished clinically to give the visitors the lead. Healthy Starlight Fc U15 responded with determination and managed to level matters in the 26th minute, capitalising on a momentary lapse in Mateco’s defence to score an equaliser.

Despite conceding, Mateco FA maintained their composure and continued to press forward. Just before half-time, in the 41st minute, Ayuba once again found the net, this time assisted by A Olumide, restoring Mateco’s advantage and sending them into the break 2-1 ahead.

The second half saw Mateco FA extend their dominance. In the 58th minute, Ali Abdulrouf’s creativity on the left flank was rewarded as he set up Akanni Tobi, who made no mistake in doubling the lead to 3-1. The visitors’ attacking intent did not wane, and in the 77th minute, Akanni Tobi returned the favour by assisting A Olumide, who slotted home to make it 4-1.

Mateco FA sealed their emphatic victory in the 85th minute when A Olumide scored his second goal of the match, adding a fifth for the away side with a composed finish. Throughout the match, Mateco’s midfield and forward lines combined fluently, with the wide players particularly influential in creating chances and stretching the opposition.

Defensively, the back four and Joseph Daniel in midfield ensured that Healthy Starlight’s opportunities were limited, aside from their solitary goal. Goalkeeper Momoh Abass was rarely troubled but remained alert when called upon.

This comprehensive 5-1 triumph on the road will boost Mateco FA’s confidence as they continue their league campaign, showcasing a well-drilled side capable of both defensive solidity and attacking flair.
