Mary Dendy scored four times for the second week in a row but lost…again. Normally eight goals would guarantee some sort of points return but its just not happening for Dendy who continue to concede more than they score.

Their match against Poynton Kings was a managers nightmare but thoroughly entertaining never the less. Stu Ainsworth , playing only second game of the season for Kings since breaking his toe opened the scoring on twelve minutes , managing to stay on his feet despite three despairing tackles by the Dendy defence, to poke the ball home. Dendy equalised on the half hour mark. Martin Brunker’s free kick was tipped onto the bar by stand in keeper Chris Kirk who had an excellent game but the ballooned high into the air and as it dropped Matt Morris was first to get to the ball to head home from a yard out.

Chris Kirk tips Martin Brunkers free kick onto the cross bar only for Mary Dendy striker Matt Morris to nod it over the line

Ainsworth made it 2-1 nine minutes into the second half as first Matt Robinson , then James Curbishley failed to clear a cross from Josh Roberts and he stole in to fire the ball into an empty net but barely five minutes later Dendy were level. Substitute and man of the match Dan Vickers sent Matt Morris clear of the Kings defence and he instantly controlled the ball and fired a low shot past Kirk. Luke Murray made an instant impact as he came off the bench for Ali Breed . With his first touch his header forced a corner and then opting to take the corner himself his pin point ball found Josh Roberts who glanced the ball home to make it 2-3. Once again Dendy found their way back into the game as a long cross field pass from Matty Martin found substitute Dan Vickers and he controlled the ball in an instant and fired home.

There was still time for more goals in this topsy turvy game and this time it was the Kings subs who made the difference . First David Graham swivelled and volleyed home a delightful free kick from Ed Haslam and then Scott Wright scampered clear down the right and crossed for Luke Murray to tap home at the far post to give the visitors a 5-3 lead. Dendy did manage to pull one back when Matt Robinson, Dendy’s keeper, went up for a corner and caused chaos in the area leaving Nick Brunker to tap home . Try as they might Dendy just couldn’t force the equaliser and their efforts came to nought.
