MATCH REPORT BY CAPTAIN BEN ROBBO

Everyone was up for the midweek cup but it was a difficult start with Netherley applying the early pressure and referee decisions not going our way, which led to Netherley taking the lead.

Netherley continued with the same style of play with the long ball, Barkhill trying to gain control with some good pieces of play.

The next goal came from the opposition to put them 2-0 up after another poor decision from the referee.

Barkhill didn't let their heads drop and continued with some positive play. A good piece of play from Anthony down the left hand side led to the ball ending up in the area with Ben C taking a shot at goal which was saved and Elijah collected the second ball putting it away to make the game 2-1.

Netherley continued with pressure which Barkhill were dealing with but Netherley scored another making it 3-1 at half time.

After a good team talk at half time Barkhill went out positively playing some good football and creating some good chances.

Netherley grabbed another goal making it 4-1 which could have deflated the Barkhill boys but it didn't, we continued to give it 100%.

Towards the end of the game Jacob was fouled just before the half way line and the Ref actually gave us a free kick.

Ben Robbo stepped up to take the free kick and took an opportunity to shoot with the rest of the Barkhill boys poised on the 18 yard line to collect the second ball. Ben Robbo took a run up and connected well with the ball sending it goalward, the keeper got his finger tips to it but it dropped in behind and went in to make the game 4-2.

We were unlucky not to grab a draw.

Well done to Barkhill for putting in a good effort ?
