Home league match

As always the matchup between City Thirsties and Marist Casuals was one for the footballing purist. And as of late Thirsties have help the whip hand. And so it was to be again today. But Causals did not go down without a huge fight.

Thirsties started the penultimate league game of the season well and within 20 minutes Brownlie had put the City side ahead. Like Christmas it had been coming – and like Christmas the Casuals had just handed out a present.

Nevertheless the orange side regrouped and equalised after the half hour with some good work from Matt Roberts who outran the City defence to bring the scorers back level.

It might be fitness. It might be a lack of concentration. It might just be plain stupidity. But time and time again Marist switch off late and this happened again to let Moorhead in to put Thirsties ahead with a little over ten minutes to go. And try as they may the Casuals could not find an answer.

The final score of 2-1 to Thirsties was reasonably fair, but showed how close the Casuals are to achieving some positive results. One would hope they take this on board.
