Sometimes playing the Thirsties can send a man to drink. Today was one of those days for the Casuals.

The Thirsties have regrouped in the close season after losing a chunk of their squad but this new side was dominant in their home tie with the Casuals. With Russell Ferg, Tevita and Jasper the German running the show Casuals were torn asunder and made to ok quite ordinary.

Make no mistake, this wasn’t a blip. Thirsties were excellent. Quick on the break, first to the ball on many occasions, tough in the tackle and gaffer Steve Hodson must wonder why his side is sitting lower mid table.

Sure, the Casuals made it easy for them by pushing forward then allowing the City side plenty of space. Brutal on the counter, Thirties racked up goals at will and maybe it could have been worse.

That’s not to say there weren’t bright spots for the orange team. New signing Mickey Fold did well in midfield, and keeper Buck Buchanan was as usual solid. Steve Maguire dropping into sweeper position in the second half all but closed down the Thirties attack.

Adn while the result was never in doubt, referee Mr Thompson made a number of curoious decisions which will likely see him relegated to First Kicks refereeing.

However the fact is Casuals are without a win and the goals have dried up. Indeed it is enough to turn a man to drink.
