1st Game of the season and playing downhill Jonah and Dean brought the training onto the pitch and got inside the full backs time and again .A few early chances went wide or straight at the keeper until Dean Twomey settled the early 1st game back nerves with a skilful turn and finish into the far corner .Jonah was getting great joy in behind his man and defending up hill was increasingly hard for Park .When they did break Trevor, Fitzy, Chopper and Dave stood firm .Adam , Jack and Shayne are a new combination and they where finding their feet and when to go and hold and Jack went forward took a great touch playing Jonah in behind the full back to score 2-0 .Park came out playing and Mallow stood off a succession of good play by Park and the park forward punished our lads with an excellent long range finish .2-1 , Dean was a constant threat and he beat 2 defenders and the keeper for the ball to drop around Jordan on the line who claimed the last touch to get a poachers goal .
3-1 halftime and Mallows turn to defend the hill.Park obviously know the pitch well and caught out a static defence with a set piece over the top where the runner wasn't tracked .Only a few minutes later both right back and right winger Jonah and Trevor where struggling with injuries came off and Mallow where done that side as the lads hasn't settled .Parks forward went on a run to the by line and squared it back to score
3-3
Thomas Hickey in goal followed up his excellent save in the first half with a couple of good handling saves and Park with confidence kept pushing for a fourth .Josh , Jordan and Dean where dangerous and pushed Park back the other way with fast breaks with stretched the game and Adam , Jack and Shayne took control all linking up to release Shayne who let fly with a screamer Goal of the match .Saturday's training of dealing with high ball into the box was well and truly tested down hill and both full backs Dave and Aidan stood firm .In the dying moments Aidan Bolster made a goal saving tackle and Dave Relihan gave a great outlet up the left to releave pressure. Its never easy away from home 1st game of the season and all 13 players used where a credit to the team .The bench and supporters created a great atmosphere encouraging the lads .
