Home league match

Malahide welcomed Blessington AFC for an encounter that concluded with a 2-0 victory for Malahide. The match, which kicked off at 10:00 am, showcased Malahide's tactical superiority and clinical finishing, ensuring they took all three points in this competitive fixture.

Our team setup in a 4-2-3-1 formation, a setup that is typically characterised by a solid defensive base and an attacking quartet that can interchange fluidly. In this formation, the back four comprised two central defenders (Oliver Muir & Cillian Geraghty) flanked by two full-backs (Luke Chivers & Larry Moriarty), providing width and support in both defence and attack. The double pivot in central midfield was( Gearoid Heery & Liam Burke) tasked with breaking up opposition play while also facilitating the transition to attack. Ahead of them were three attacking midfielders ( Cillian Dailly, Toby Brookes & Jacob Acton), and the lone striker (Eoin Hendrick) expected to lead the line and finish chances.

The match saw all substitutions made during the game, meaning the whole match day squad played a key role in today's win.

The first half saw both teams probing for weaknesses, but it was Malahide who began to assert their dominance as the game progressed, and after just 12 minutes, Toby scored his second goal in as many games, applying the finish to a well weighted through ball from Jacob. As the first half was approaching its conclusion, Eoin had a close range shot saved with the ball bouncing up nicely for him to score with a scissor kick style goal. The referee blew for half time with Malahide leading 2-0 and firmly in control of the match.

As the second half unfolded, Blessington started to apply pressure on our defence, with Aiden making some important saves.

Ultimately, the match concluded with Malahide securing a well-deserved victory, showcasing their capabilities and leaving Blessington with their first defeat of the season. The 2-0 scoreline reflected our side's superiority, making it 2 wins in a row.
