Away league match

Our first away match of the season concluded with a triumphant victory!

From the outset, it was apparent that our team understood the importance of seizing opportunities and avoiding any contentious decisions by the referee. The match began with an unexpected delay, with the referee scrutinizing Luke's sock color and insisting on all-black socks to allow him to participate.

After this minor hiccup, the game finally commenced, albeit an hour behind schedule. Just two minutes into the match, we secured an early lead when Luke expertly converted a splendid assist from Finn. Four minutes later, our advantage doubled as Luke, once again, capitalized on a precise pass from Liam, expertly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. However, our enthusiasm was momentarily tempered when a Trinity counter-attack resulted in a failure to clear the ball, allowing Trinity to score and bring the score to 2-1 after just ten minutes.

Remembering last week's match where we surrendered a comfortable lead, our team remained resolute and unwavering, keeping the pressure on and passing the ball adeptly, leaving Trinity with little opportunity to gain possession. We even had a goal disallowed for offside, despite Trinity having a player on the line, following a cleverly executed corner kick routine that saw Toby head the ball into the net.

As the first half came to a close, we held a 2-1 lead.

The second half saw a continuation of our dominant performance. We maintained excellent ball control, with Oliver, Eoghan, and our fullbacks swiftly shutting down Trinity's attempts to advance. Despite relentless pressure, our sustained effort paid off when Luke completed his second hat-trick in 2 games, scoring his third goal when Gearoíd orchestrated a near-post finish.Luke had four penalty appeals denied (two of which were potential penalties). We ended the game on a strong note, with goal attempts from Luke, Oliver, Cillian, Liam, and Gavin. Although the scoreline could have been even more lopsided on another day, we settled for our three goals and the three well-deserved points.

In the closing moments, a post-whistle incident resulted in Conor Bisp receiving a yellow card for retaliating against a foul.

A special mention goes to Jay Roo, who stepped up as goalkeeper in Matty's absence. Although Jay had limited action, he executed his responsibilities admirably.

Congratulations to the entire squad for securing a significant three points today. It was a well-deserved victory.
