Malahide showcased their resilience once again, overcoming an early setback to secure a comeback victory.
Despite a challenging start that saw us conceding within 2 minutes, with a Kevin's player tapping in from close range following a cross into the box. The lads had to roll up their sleeves and dig in to get back into the game as we were second to most balls in midfield for the first 15 mins, this is exactly what they did in the 17th minute. With some good play down our right side the ball fell to Luke Collins on the edge of the box who unselfishly squared the ball to Cillian who finished with a composed side-foot finish, leveling the score at 1-1.
The first half concluded with the teams locked at 1-1. Heading into the second half, the focus was on quicker and more purposeful ball movement.
Throughout the match, our defense stood firm, winning individual duels and maintaining composure while playing out from the back. With the lads starting to win the midfield battle, applying increased pressure, the game turned in the 50th minute, a well-placed ball over the defense from Ollie D allowed Cillian to drive into the box and calmly slot the ball past the keeper and giving us a 2-1 lead. In the closing minutes, a kick out at Gearoid saw a Kevin's player receive his marching orders with a straight red card for lashing out after the ball was gone.
With a solid defensive display and strategic counter-attacks, we secured the win when the referee's final whistle blew, extending our unbeaten run to 5 games. A commendable second-half performance and three valuable points.
