Malahide Secures Third Consecutive Victory

In a match that saw the lads not quite hitting their usual stride, they managed to clinch a significant win, extending their winning streak to three games. The initial ten minutes were more about sizing up their opponents than any significant action. However, the game sprung to life in the 11th minute when Cillian embarked on one of his signature runs down the wing, cutting into the box and earning a penalty after a foul. Mr. Reliable from the spot, Finn, stepped up to take the penalty and calmly slotted it home, but the referee ordered a retake due to encroachment by Gearoid (yellow card ??). Undeterred, Finn took the second attempt, placing it in the same spot for a 1-0 lead at that point.

The midfield battle remained intense, making it challenging for us to find our rhythm, but when we managed to spread the ball wide, we posed a significant threat. At halftime, the score stood at 1-0.

The second half continued in a similar fashion, we created multiple decent chances, hitting the post on a few occasions. It took another 20 minutes before the game saw its second goal. Liam found himself one-on-one with the keeper after a well-worked move down the right side and deftly chipped the ball over the stranded goalkeeper. Drumcondra managed to reduce the deficit after some miscommunication during a free-kick led to a lifeline for them.

We had added support on the bench to compensate for the lower than usual numbers, and it paid off when Evan Fitz found the net from the edge of the box for our third goal. The game was effectively sealed in injury time as Gearoid scored the fourth and final goal. The match concluded with a 4-1 victory for Malahide. Despite not being at their best, the result was indeed an impressive one. Special mention goes to Matty in goal, who was exceptional, denying everything Drumcondra threw at him, especially during one-on-one situations, where his footwork was particularly commendable.
