Away league match
A brilliant comeback by the Vegas Boys in the final 5 minutes their second game of the season ensured they didn't repeat last years disappointing defeat at the hands of SYFC.
The Vegas boys started the game energetically, determined not to repeat the lacklustre start they displayed in their previous league game. After a frantic and even start for both teams, Magical Vegas began to keep hold of the ball with Jacob Bond looking imperious on the ball.
A few half chances came and went for both sides without either goalie being troubled until the half an hour mark when a Vegas defender was tackled by an opposing SYFC striker who bore down on goal a cooly slotted home past onrushing goalie David Willis.
Vegas stepped up a gear and began to exert some pressure on the opposition goalie who looked uncomfortable claiming any crossed and had a few fumbles in the box that fell kindly for them. Bond had a long range strike saved but other than that Vegas didn't make all their possession count into clear cut chances.
When half-time came they came in disappointed to be losing but safe in the knowledge that chances would come in the second half and they needed to take them.
That came on the hour mark when a corner was whipped in by Price which was brilliantly glanced in by Erol Resat to open his account for the season. His contributions will be key over the season if the Vegas boys are going to win games.
However, moment later an SYFC attacker pounced on a loosed ball 25yards from goal and rifled a shot into the top corner past the despairing dive of Willis to take a completely undeserved lead.
The Vegas Boys' heads didn't drop, they kept playing their football, fighting for every second ball and got back into the match just when it looked to be slipping away. A long throw from Shane McNamara was flicked on by Resat via a deflection off a SYFC defender, the ball looped up in the penalty area and came down beneath a spinning Bond in the air who struck a wonderful scissor kick into the top corner. It was the cherry on top of what had been a complete performance from Bond in centre midfield.
Now energised Vegas smelt blood and another Bond run from midfield lead to the ball falling to wing back Price suddenly in the penalty area, he took two touched to get the ball out of his feet, and slotted the ball between the keepers legs with his right foot to send the Vegas boys delirious.
It was almost the final kick of the game and when the final whistle blew the boys knew they had truly been involved in a memorable game. Their season now up and running with the hope to go on a run on victories that will place them back up near the top of the table where they belong.
