Magical Vegas' second half performance in the Invitation Cup quarter final cost them a place in the semi finals last week.
Lethargic, nervous, soft and indecisive would all be adequate descriptions of their overall play in the second half. Especially going forward.
Defensively the side looked as strong as the 'least goals conceded record' in the premier league suggests for the first 45 minutes.
But after conceding to a brilliant swivel and shot into the far corner from the right hand side of the box by an SYFC attacker midway through the second half seemed to sap the energy from the side that people have described as determined and powerful all season.
Players must remember how far we have come to get into this position.
Conceding a goal from your own attacking free-kick seemed to completely knock the confidence out of the vegas boys 20 minutes from time, even a red card shortly after that didn't awaken the spirit that has served them so well this season.
First touches (if anything) got heavier, work rate dropped off, spaces opened up and eventually...another attacking free-kick in the closing minutes left the Vegas goalie stranded for an SYFC defender to find the net from 40 yards to cap a poor performance from Vegas. This type of performance has not been seen since their last cup defeat against NK Dons in 2018.
They must, and will, show up against a strong Dover side in the semi-final of the cup next week. They deserve to be in the final. They deserve to make it but only if the fight and team spirit that has carried them this far shines through again. Let's get it.
