Away league match

Magical Vegas FC suffered their first competitive loss in the league just under a year after forming. Their performance however will have gained many admirers after showing exceptional courage, determination, skill and teamwork.
Both sides started well in an open game in which clear cut chances were not taken in the first half an hour of play. Midfield trio, Jacob Bond (who put in a MOTM performance), Luke Morgan and Micheal Appiah controlled the tempo of the match well while wingers Paul 'Trigz' Reid and Winston Fowler stretched the back 4 on numerous occasions. Lone striker Tarik Allag regularly caused panic in the opposition defence througout and was unlucky not to score with a powerful shot, controversially he was hauled down by the last defender whilst bearing down on goal on for the ref to give only a free kic without a card. A few worrying moments at the back due to a little rustiness didn't cost the side who should have come in at half time with a lead.
The second half started well for the ' Vegas boys' who started to boss possession and threatening play, finally a good diagonal ball from Appiah gave Trigz a great opportunity to beat the keeper to the ball with a glancing header. Despite Regents Rovers best attempts to break down the solid Vegas defence they couldn't manage any clear cut opportunities. The game changed with 20mins to go when cramp, injuries and floodlights failing gave momentum to Regents who managed to score in a goalmouth scramble on 81mins. Vegas were unlucky not to score again after some good passing created a chance but their luck was not apparent on this occasion and Regents scored a suspiciously offside goal moments later. Now vegas chased the game and were caught out when a long ball left keeper summers exposed and subsequently gave away a penalty - which was scored before the final whistle blew.
Overall a satisfying performance that deserved more but the nature of the league means you have to stay focuses for the full 90mins. We will get better.
