Away cup match

A game against Pearson, top of Division 2, was a tough test for Vegas boys in round 2 of the Jack Walker Shield. Moments before the game the team swapped kits with another side who had a kit clash in a different game leaving Vegas to play in an unfamilliar white kit.

It seemed to play on the minds of the players as they played the worse possible 45mins of football they have played all season. Creating very little and constantly under the cosh from a physcial and aggressive Pearson side, Vegas fell to a 0-2 scoreline at half time.

After some strong words at half time Vegas 'woke up' and started playing some lovely football. maintaining possession and linking up play near the opposition goal they caused problems and Pearson suddenly looked vunurable.

A wonderful cross field pass from centre back Robert Webber released substitue Kaleb King to lob over the goalie with one of his first touches and make the game far closer in scoreline than Vegas really deserved. Individual mistakes had cost Vegas by conceding possession in their own half in the first half and they were at fault again when poor control allowed Pearson attackers to swarm the goal with numbers over and make the game almost unreachable for Vegas with 20 minutes to go.

With Vegas chasing the game and under pressure another defensive mistake allowed Pearson open a 4-1 lead. However, Vegas continued to play their style of football and Paul 'Trigz' Reid hooked a cross for Shazad Latif to volley home with 5 minutes to play. A bobering defeat but at least now all focus can be spent on winning the Division 1 title after Dover Castle faultered in the race losing 4-2 to Foxham later that day.
