Away league match

Vegas played out their second 2-2 draw in 3 league games last night against a solid, yet unconvincing MQ Times side.

Lacking in their usual composure on the ball Vegas tried to find the killer pass too often and found themselves in a tough midfield battle. Matters where made harder when Shane McNamara and the opposition number 11 collided in the box and despit the ref waiving away the appeals the linesman flagged for a trip and MQ Times went ahead from the resulting penalty. If anything, that stimulated the Vegas boys and wave after wave of attacks where thrown forward and often repelled with last ditch tackles and blocks in addition to poor finishing in the box. With not long before half time Patrick Moore Jones hit a hopefull long range strike that was (luckily) fumbled over the line by the goalie.

After half time, Vegas came out of the traps aggressivly and had a few decent opportunities to put the game to bed but failed to make their dominance count. Moore Jones missing the ball when he had a good opportiuntiy to lob the goalie after a poor clearence being the biggest opportunity missed. However, the pressure told as Paul 'Trigz' Reid decived The CB and was hauled down in the box, Moore Jones slammed it in off the post and Vegas finally had their lead.

As the game wore on, MQ Times did not trouble the Vegas defense much but importantly Nick Loblack pulled up with a tight hamstring and was removed with 30mins to go. With no alternative CB available, McNamara dropped into CB and Rob Taylor came into the fray with a great record of 3 goals in his last 3 sub appearences. Unfortunatly he also suffered a rib injury but battled on, with momentum beginning to shift Trigz was replaced by Louis LLoyd Pack to shore up at the back but the plan backfired as it invited more pressure onto the Vegas defense which eventually told when they scored a header direct from a corner.

The game peetered out and so did Vegas' lead at the top. Now down to just 1 point. It leaves the title race evenly balanced but Vegas will need to up their game if they are to claim the division 1 title.
