Magical Vegas FC continued their resurgence from their damaging first day defeat to score 8 in the inaugural round of the Tom Keane Memorial Cup.

With confidence high and looking well balanced in a 3-5-2 system, Vegas got off to a flyer when Jacob Bond slid a perfect pass for Steven Bruce. He shrugged off an attending defender and rolled the ball home to take an early lead.

Vegas could (and should) have scored a few more before their second, a lose clearance was controlled by Patrick Moore Jones just outside the area, when no-one closed him down he moved into the penalty area and fired a left foot shot across the goalie into the far corner to make it 2-0.

The scoreline somehow stayed the same until half-time, despite controlling all aspects of the game a combination of lacklustre finishing and good defending kept the score respectable.

That changed in the 2nd half when moments into it, Kaleb King showed great composure to sidestep an on-coming defender and curl into the far corner from the edge of the box to make it 3-0.

Now Vegas started to really play some champagne football, somehow Hussein Hussein and Luke O'Leary (both playing at CB) linked up on the edge of the box - with the latter curling a perfect shot high into the corner of the goal from the edge of the d.

Luke Morgan made an impact after coming on and after he was taken down in the box, he got up and rolled home the resulting penalty.

Vegas didn't take their foot off the gas, their football was measured and when almost every player in the team had a touch before man of the match Shane McNamara cut it back for Perry Price (now playing up top), he didn't hesitate to fire home for the sixth and best goal of the game.

As Vegas' mind may have relaxed they conceded a poor goal when Moore Jones lost possession in his half, the ball was passed to an attacker who then side-stepped 2 defenders and scuffed a shot across David Willis for a undeserved consolation.

Price, enjoying his role as a striker, then pounced on a long ball from O'Leary to fire a good 7th for Vegas before Clissold managed another goal with a great header in the box from a pinpoint cross.

McNamara, now playing right wing back, wrapped things up on a trademark surge forward, cutting in from the right and curling a delightful left foot shot into the far corner for number eight.

Vegas will need to keep their feet on the ground in next weeks game against unknown side Kensington Borough if they are to continue their recent run of victories.
