A game between 1st and 3rd position in the table was billed as a top of the table clash but for much of the game this was a boys against men competition. Magical Vegas FC came out at the first whistle determind to show they were worthy champions and after 10minutes exerted their authority over a quality - but disorganised Arya FC.
Mark Maher began finding holes in the Arya midfield & defense and it was his powerful effort in the Arya penalty area that was expertly saved only for the returning Kaleb King to tuck in the rebound from 5 yards out. Confidence began to flow and the midfield trio of Patrick Moore Jones, Shane McNamara and Maher combined to stunning effect when some incisive one touch passing and movement allowed Maher to pass to Moore Jones on his way into the opposition penalty area who cut inside and lashed an effort in the near post for what is sure to be a goal of the season contender. A third assist from Maher followed when he played in King, who finished calmly, curling into the far post after cutting in from the left wing. Multiple chances went begging for Vegas as Tarik Allag, Luke Morgan and King tormented the Arya defense for the reminder of the half forcing a string of saves from the opposition goalkeeper who kept the scoreline respectable. A glaring open goal miss from Harry Pedersen (hahahaha) meant the socre remained 3-0 at half time.
Arya started the second half brightly and Vegas were sudddenly on the back foot as Arya harried and pressed their opponents. Vegas however weathered their assault and thought they put the game to bed when Shane McNamara combined brilliantly with King who rounded the goalie and tapped in for his hatrick. Substitutions were made and Vegas relaxed allowing a rather alarming capitulation from the champions who conceeded 3 cheap goals in the space of 10minutes to allow Arya to believe they coud salvage something for the game before Winston Fowler slid in Luke Morgan who powered home his 2nd goal in as many games. What should have been a comfortable victory almost turned sour and Vegas must ensure they dont switch off next season when tougher challeneges in the premier division present themselves.
