Home friendly match

Keresley RFC hosted yet another friendly for Lowfors football club. Lowfors, galvanised by an ever improving squad and greater commitment saw them start this game quickly from the outset. Inside 25 seconds a goal keeper error saw Jon S pounce to open the scoring. CTK had a sharpness about them but Lowfors didn’t let them get into any sort of stride with good pressing and decent football in the opening encounters. 12 minutes later the ball rebounded off the cross bar to see a young Festus grab his first goal in senior football. CTK started to grow into the game and with attacking full backs and pace going forward they always posed a threat but the Lowfors defence always seemed very assured despite their advances. Going the other way lowfors looked as though they could score with every attack and on 20 minutes we did just that with a drop ball on the edge of the box which Gould whipped up and over the keeper to make it 3-0. In the second half, CTK started to throw players forward and Lowfors had a 15 minute spell where the football and ball retention went missing. Some good work from their advancing left back found their striker in the box who shifted the ball on to his left foot and drive the ball high into the roof of the net on 58minutes. CTK seemed galvanised for a time but as they poured players forward, gaps started to open at the back. Ellis was starting to cause many problems and might have score with a couple of one and one chances whilst Mickey hit the inside of the post moments later. The Lowfors pressure started tell and Ellis drove into the box and on the angle volleyed the ball past the advancing keeper to kill the game at 4-1. Moments later Lawrence played some smart football through midfield and powered through their tired defence to face up 1-1 with their keeper, slotting calmly passed him. Whilst Pearson May have been disappointed not to have scored earlier, he grabbed a large goal on 85 minutes with a quick thinking shot 18 yards out that found the near corner to seal a 6-1 victory. Lowfors look like a team full of confidence but with tougher friendly matches to come it will be interesting to see how this new look Lowfors perform.
